I had heard the story of this book numerous times in the nearly six years that I served as director of the Church History Library, but I only called the book out of the stacks after a Salt Lake City television station wanted to film yet another telling. This, it seemed, was a storyteller’s dream-a faith-promoting story with touchable roots in the Church’s historical collection. Perhaps the most surprising part of this story is how confidently the tale has been told with so little analysis. ![]()
